Far-right Bolsonaro widens lead on eve of Brazil’s elections


Far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro widened his lead over fellow election hopefuls a day before Brazilians go to the polls to choose the country’s next president. In DataFolha polling institute’s latest poll, published on Saturday, Bolsonaro was projected to win 40 percent of the vote on Sunday.

Fernando Haddad, the leftist Workers’ Party (PT) replacement candidate for jailed former president Luiz Inacio “Lula” da Silva, was projected to win 25 percent of support.
