While we often see farming as a rural, analogue activity, there is a shift of perception of \u201cfood\u201d among populations worldwide and we are starting to see that intricate connection between field and city-dweller\u2019s plate turned into business models. The third agricultural revolution \u2013 after the invention of farming itself and the industrialisation of farming \u2013is already well under way. Once again, Asia shows the way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From efficiency to quality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since the second half of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century right, agriculture has been rapidly modernising around the world. The USA and Brazil became the <em>breadbaskets<\/em> of the world (producing the most food)<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>, followed by Europe and, on the eve of the new century, by Asia<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a>.
