This year, we\u2019ve scraped the barrel and it\u2019s undermining all the progress made through reform, modernising and reinforcing stability in the system. The fact that the benefits of these reforms will not immediately be visible and that the individuals in charge of explaining it (journalists) do not understand what has happened most of the time, are serious matters for concern. Confidence from citizens in their leaders is at its lowest. There is an urgent need to develop a strategy to inform\/enlighten citizens that bypasses the usual routes connecting the elite and ordinary people. Those in charge of the transition must jump on social media to give clear and sincere explanations in a format taking back the space required for intelligent discourse instead of the simplistic Tweets and hardly-trusted spin-doctors\u2019 videos.
