Originally (until only a few decades or years ago<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>), family was defined as a lasting union (marriage) between a man and a woman with the intention of procreation. However, expanding personal freedoms of the constitutive parts of the family has resulted in a disaggregation of the various social functions traditionally merged in the concept of the family, resulting in the possibility of less conventional family constellations and in the need for an ability to navigate the new possibilities.
