This response was more supportive of this victory than the Western political and media spheres would admit. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And yet, Trump himself is a boomer! What insights can be drawn from this paradox and what pathways for understanding does it open?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Donald Trump&#8217;s popularity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>55% of men aged between 18 and 29 voted for Trump. While only 41% of women of the same age voted the same way, only 33% (8% less) slipped a Republican ballot paper into the box in 2016<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>&#8230; Even among the black community, Trump doubled his score, from 10% of African-Americans voting Republican 4 years ago to 20% on 5 November<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>. Among Hispanics, 32% chose Trump 4 years ago, compared with 46% this year&#8230; despite promises of an anti-migration policy<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a>. The same is true of the Arab population&#8230; despite Trump&#8217;s unconditional support for Israel<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, which category of the population voted for Kamala Harris more than it should have? Baby boomers, who reversed the habit of older people voting Republican.
