By 2040, what we wear will increasingly serve as a civilizational manifesto. Clothing will speak less about our individual identities and more about the kind of world we have collectively chosen to inhabit, shape\u2026 and work in. Our current protective garments will soon be replaced by interface objects that bridge the gap between our climatic and technological constraints and our stubborn aspirations for social distinction&#8230; with comfort and identity included in the package. The wardrobe of the future will claim to know us, understand us in order to protect us, even represent us in an environment that has become too complex for us to face naked, socially speaking.
