Para la India, lo que est\u00e1 en juego es tanto diplom\u00e1tico como estrat\u00e9gico, y Nueva Delhi busca presentarse como una potencia de equilibrio, capaz de dialogar con Occidente, Rusia, China, Oriente Medio y el Sur Global. La reuni\u00f3n estar\u00e1 presidida por el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores indio, S. Jaishankar, mientras que las delegaciones ser\u00e1n recibidas por el primer ministro Narendra Modi. La presencia prevista del ministro de Asuntos Exteriores iran\u00ed confiere a este encuentro una dimensi\u00f3n especialmente delicada. Para la India, muy dependiente de las importaciones energ\u00e9ticas procedentes del Golfo, la estabilidad del estrecho de Ormuz sigue siendo un asunto de vital importancia y esta reuni\u00f3n pondr\u00e1 a prueba la capacidad de los BRICS ampliados para coordinar sus posiciones ante las grandes crisis internacionales. Para Nueva Delhi, tambi\u00e9n es una oportunidad para reforzar su imagen de potencia clave en el mundo multipolar. Esta reuni\u00f3n ministerial no deber\u00eda alterar por s\u00ed sola el orden internacional, pero constituye una se\u00f1al pol\u00edtica importante: los BRICS buscan organizarse como un bloque capaz de ejercer una gran influencia.
