The second half of the 20th century accustomed us to international relations structured by two antagonistic powers operating with radically opposed methods. To put it somewhat simplistically, on one side we had the Soviet bloc, which focused its strategy of influence on propaganda and the spread of its communist ideology, and on the other, the United States, which set about spreading the model of Western democracies throughout the world, mainly by practising dollar democracy and using its model of free trade to do business and secure the support of partners in its camp.
In 2025, the American approach changed radically: promoting Trumpist ideology became the priority of US international policy.
