OVERVIEW
We could not forgo our long-awaited January panorama of the year’s trends, anchored in our hypothesis of the official inauguration of Permanent Systemic War. The return of humanity is still discreet. We therefore focus mainly on empires, surveillance, the widening of all inequalities, the relegation of humanity to the background, and wars, of course. There is not much to celebrate, even if a semblance of order could still prevail this year. The economy must keep running!
Peace agreements with no peace
Any breach in the fragile edifice of peace will now be a lasting rift. The world will become sort of “Israelised” in the sense that there will be more and more areas of permanent war that societies will simply “learn to live with”. Basically, in the best-case scenario, formal agreements will be signed to reassure the masses about the power of the Strong, but these agreements will not hold. The signing of a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia under the aegis of the United States, China and Malaysia lasted only a few weeks. Sadly, most likely the same will occur in Ukraine, which has been transformed into a fortified camp, and the Ukrainians into soldiers serving the ‘tranquillity’ of a Europe permanently alienated from Russia. Yemen, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya… there as well, too many powerful but divergent interests.
