ANTICIPATION
It won’t be the climate that forces us to become resilient, war will.
After 20 years marked by the Global Systemic Crisis, we anticipate that 2026 will mark a shift into a new period of at least 20 years (a generation) of Permanent Systemic War. This new norm will be the most characteristic and structuring constraint of the socio-political reorganisation to come, contributing to the “Return of the Human” envisaged in this issue. The vague notions surrounding ‘resilience’ that have emerged in common speeches in recent years in connection with the climate crisis will take on a much more concrete and urgent meaning in the context of the coming awareness of this state of permanent war.
This anticipation is a logical continuation of the process we have observed over the last 20 years, namely the collapse of the international order that emerged after the Second World War, combined with the failure of Western leaders to negotiate the great shift, resulting in the major derailment that we have all witnessed helplessly, now forcing us to acknowledge the systemic impossibility for anyone to regain control of world’s destiny.
