Web3 – 2026 – When we come to realise that Big Tech is “has-been”

ALERT

Warnings about the bursting of the tech or AI bubble are endless[1]. Does this increase the likelihood of it happening? For a long time, the GEAB has been warning against exaggerated enthusiasm for progress, innovation, tech, AI, etc., cautioning that an inevitable moment of disappointment is fast approaching. Why do we now wish to reinforce this warning and corroborate the converging opinions on the matter?

Big Tech is blocking progress

We went back to an article published in the GEAB four years ago[2], which anticipated that the arrival of Web3 (the decentralised blockchain) would pose a serious problem for the American tech giants that grew up in the era of Web2 (the centralised platforms)[3]. This prediction proved so accurate that Web3 has, as if by chance, disappeared from the screens. Joining forces with governments frightened by a change that could exacerbate their sovereignty crisis, Big Tech simply blocked this step and replaced it at the end of 2022 with the “coup” of IAGs, AI models designed to pump human intelligence for free to feed their business model as well as global domination.
