China’s Political Timeline

2021-2022

18-21/04/2021: The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2021, “A World in Change: Join Hands to Strengthen Global Governance and Advance Belt and Road Cooperation” will take place in Boao, Hainan. 2021 marks BFA’s 20th anniversary. Since the Forum’s establishment, BFA is committed to promoting Asian economic integration and the world’s common development.[1]

22-23/04/2021: The Leaders’ Summit on Climate will be held online at the initiative of Joseph Biden, gathering 40 world leaders. It could see the first bilateral meeting between the US president and the Chinese president.

23/07/2021: Centenary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). A grand gathering will be held, during which President Xi Jinping will deliver an important speech.[2]

14-30/09/2021: 76th United Nations General Assembly at which Xi Jinping is expected to deliver a speech.[3]

10/2021: 6th CCP Plenum, the mandated annual convention of the full Central Committee of the Communist Party which constitutes a forum for policy alignment.[4]
