In Afghanistan, the Taliban are back in power and history is picking up where it left off exactly 20 years ago. However, those 20 years of Afghanistan’s mire have occurred, changing the course history would have taken. Wars, terrorism, destruction, displacement, new players, … the whole world had to rush to the bedside of a tormented Middle East from which America absolutely had to withdraw so that lasting solutions could begin to emerge. During these 20 years, immense transformations have happened underground. They will come to light, revealing a new Middle East in a new world. Here come are our anticipations on this topic, in line with our previous analyses but with new elements as well. What a strange destiny for this seemingly unimportant country where the two Cold War empires came to die.
