In its counter-attack, the American e-Empire cannot ignore its chosen weapon: the dollar. It is impossible to reinvent American power and its domination of the global system without reinventing the hegemony of its currency. With Big Tech gaining the upper hand over American political power, it is only natural that the reinvention of its monetary hegemony should involve digitalisation.
As we have seen, the counter-attack is not about trying to make up for lost time in recent years, or even about preserving the lead of the unipolar world at all costs. It is about finding a way to reintegrate into a multipolar world by putting its new features, the instruments that make it up, at its service. The United States is lagging and hesitating over the development of a central bank digital currency[1] (MDBC), particularly in comparison with China, and it does not have the means to stop the trend towards de-dollarisation undertaken by the BRICS and the Global South. We therefore expect them to turn to crypto-currencies by taking control of the first of them: Bitcoin.
